Studio pages do not all publish the same details. Check the RTP inside the game when a developer leaves it unstated. Read maximum-win figures alongside volatility and bonus frequency to understand the payout pattern.
New release, sequel or re-skin: what is the difference?
A casino’s “new” label can refer to a recent studio release or a game newly added to its lobby. Book of Dead, released by Play’n GO on 14 January 2016, can still appear in a new casino’s latest additions.
There are four common categories to distinguish: original releases, sequels, special editions and re-skins.
1. Original release. A new title with its own game rules, layout and maths. Check the studio’s release date and the rules screen to see which features distinguish it from earlier games. Most studios publish new slots every month.
2. A sequel. A numbered follow-up such as Fire in the Hole 3. It keeps the theme and core idea and changes the maths. Nolimit City lists the third game at 96.05% RTP with a top win of 70,000x. Expect the volatility and the bonus frequency to differ from the earlier games in the series, even when the art looks familiar.
3. A special edition. Gates of Olympus Super Scatter is the clean example. Pragmatic Play calls it a new special edition of the original. The 6-reel tumble, the 8 to 30 symbol rule and the 15 free spins stay, and a Super Scatter ladder is added that can pay 100x, 500x, 5,000x or 50,000x when the bonus triggers. Same family, new prize shape.
4. A re-skin. The same engine with a new theme, new symbols and sometimes a new name. Themed editions of one game, like the Ice, Race and Vegas versions of Chicken Road in the gallery above, are the visible case. Re-skins are not bad. They are just not new maths, and the help file will read almost word for word like the older version.
| What to compare | Gates of Olympus | Gates of Olympus Super Scatter | Sweet Bonanza | Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pay rule | 8 to 30 symbols anywhere | 8 to 30 symbols anywhere | 8 to 12+ symbols anywhere | 8 to 12+ symbols anywhere |

How to compare two slots in 60 seconds
Compare the game’s rules with the title it resembles. After a couple of practice runs, these six checks take about a minute per game.
- Open the game in demo mode or open its information screen without spinning.
- Read the studio name. If the casino hides it, search the game title plus the word "slot" and find the studio page.
- Compare the grid size and the pay rule with the title it resembles. A 6 by 5 cluster grid is not the same game as a 5 by 3 line slot, whatever the art says.
- Read the free spins rule: how many scatters, how many spins, what changes in the bonus. Copy the 3 numbers into the notebook further down.
- Find the RTP line in the help file. Note it exactly, including decimals.
- Check the release date on the studio page. Under 3 months old is new; a date from 2016 with a "new" tag is a lobby choice.
Two matching answers in steps 3 and 4 with a different theme mean re-skin. A different prize ladder on the same grid means special edition. Different grid, rules and maths mean a release, even if the theme is gods and gold coins again.
Slot mechanics: five common game formats
Slot mechanics explain how matching symbols create wins and how bonus rounds begin. Most games in this guide fit one of the five formats below.
Pay anywhere with tumbles. Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza pay for 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on the screen, then remove them and drop new ones in. Read the multiplier rule: in Gates of Olympus, multipliers run up to 500x and add together in the bonus. The bonus is where the game earns its reputation, so most of the base game is a wait for 4 scatters.
Clusters. Sugar Rush pays for groups of 5 to 15+ touching symbols. Its key rule is the marked spot: a win marks the grid position, and repeated wins on that spot build a multiplier up to 128x. In the free spins, the marks stay for the whole round, which is why 3 to 7 scatters giving 10 to 30 spins is a much bigger moment than in the base game.
Money collect and respins. Big Bass Splash and Chilli Heat pay through money symbols. In Big Bass Splash, wilds collect money symbols worth up to 5,000x during free spins. In Chilli Heat, a full grid of money symbols awards the Grande Jackpot of 1,000x. Read what triggers the respins and what resets them.
Expanding symbols. Book-style games such as Book of Dead pick a symbol before the free spins, then expand it across the reels. With 3 scatters you get 10 free spins. Read which symbols can be chosen and whether they pay on scattered positions, because that rule shapes the whole bonus.
Feature-heavy high volatility. Fire in the Hole 3 and Wanted Dead or a Wild stack modifiers, bonus modes and big multipliers. Read the bonus buy price if there is one, the max win and the hit rate. These games can go quiet for a long time, and that is by design, not a fault.

Slot RTP: versions and where to find them
RTP means return to player: the theoretical share of total bets a game pays back over a very long run. Compare the same RTP version when assessing two games. The percentage does not predict a single session’s result.
Studios often ship one game with several RTP versions and let the casino choose which one to run. Hacksaw Gaming lists 4 versions of Wanted Dead or a Wild on a single line: 96.38%, 94.55%, 92.33% and 88.42%, with the same art and rules but different maths.
| RTP version | Long-run return | Long-run cost |
|---|---|---|
| 96.38% | €963.80 | €36.20 |
| 94.55% | €945.50 | €54.50 |
| 92.33% | €923.30 | €76.70 |
| 88.42% | €884.20 | €115.80 |
Read the last column. The lowest version costs about 3 times as much as the highest over the same €1,000 of bets. That is why the RTP line inside the game at MythosWin matters more than any figure quoted on a list.
And when the number is missing? Pragmatic Play's own page for Gates of Olympus Super Scatter left the RTP field empty on 21 October 2026, while the original game's page showed 96.50%. In that case do 3 things. Open the help file inside the game and look for a line called RTP or theoretical return. If it is not there, ask live chat which version the casino runs, and if nobody can tell you, do not quote a percentage you have not seen. Play it as a game with unknown maths, with a smaller stake.
Five details to check in a new slot
Record these five details from the game rules or studio page before real-money play. A two-minute check gives you a useful reference when comparing titles.
- Studio and release date, for example Play'n GO and 14 Jan 2016 for Book of Dead.
- Grid and pay rule, for example 6 reels with 8 to 30 symbols paying anywhere.
- Bonus trigger, for example 3 scatters for 10 free spins.
- RTP line exactly as printed, or "empty" if the studio leaves it blank.
- Top win and, where published, the hit frequency.
If a detail is missing from both sources, mark it as unstated in your notes. You can ask support for the game version before choosing your stake.
Win frequency, volatility and maximum payouts
Some studios publish more than an RTP, and those extra numbers are the best budgeting tool you will get. Nolimit City lists Fire in the Hole 3 with a hit frequency of 22.18%, free spins about 1 in 231 spins, a max win of 70,000x and a max win chance of 1 in 14.3m. Bets run from €0.20 to €100.00.
Here is how to turn that into a plan. For example, a hit frequency of 22.18% means roughly 1 spin in 4.5 returns something, often less than your stake. At €0.20 a spin, 231 spins cost €46.20, which is the average spend between bonus rounds, not a guarantee. If your budget for the night is €20, you should expect many sessions to end before the bonus arrives.
Volatility is the size of the swings, and Hacksaw rates Wanted Dead or a Wild at 4 of 5. High volatility brings long dry spells and rare big hits, low volatility brings smaller wins more often, and neither is better: pick the one that suits your budget and patience, then set a stake that covers at least 100 spins.
A €20 budget: Big Bass Splash and Fire in the Hole 3
A €20 budget and €0.20 stake cover 100 rounds before wins. Here is how two different bonus structures fit that starting point.
Take €20 and a €0.20 stake, which buys 100 spins before any wins. On Big Bass Splash, the studio page tells you that 3, 4 or 5 scatters give 10, 15 or 20 free spins, with money symbols worth up to 5,000x collected by wilds. That is a game built around one feature, so your 100 spins are mostly a wait for scatters, and the session lives or dies on whether the feature lands.
On Fire in the Hole 3, Nolimit City publishes the free spins rate directly: about 1 in 231 spins. With 100 spins you are more likely not to see the bonus than to see it, and the 22.18% hit frequency means roughly 22 of those 100 spins pay something, often less than the stake.
The same €20 buys the same number of rounds at a €0.20 stake, but the bonus experience differs. Big Bass Splash centres on collecting money symbols during free spins. Fire in the Hole 3 has a rarer published bonus frequency. Try each in demo mode to decide which pace you prefer.
Try a new slot with 50 demo spins
Use 50 demo spins to learn a slot’s pace and main features before playing for real money at MythosWin.
- Set the demo stake to the stake you would use for real, for example €0.20.
- Before spinning, write down the bonus trigger from the help file, such as 3 scatters for 10 free spins.
- Spin 50 times and count the spins that returned anything. 11 or 12 wins out of 50 is close to a 22% hit rate.
- Note the biggest base-game win as a multiple of your stake.
- If the bonus did not trigger, that is normal. Note it and do not raise the stake to force it.
- Compare your notes with the studio page. If they look very different from what the studio publishes, read the help file again.
50 spins will not show you the long-run maths. They will show you the rhythm of the game, how often small wins come and what a dry spell feels like, which is exactly what you need to size your real stake.
Bonus buys: prices and how they work
Many new slots let you buy the bonus round outright instead of waiting for scatters. Nolimit City lists a feature buy for Fire in the Hole 3, and studios usually show the price as a multiple of your stake.
A bonus-buy price is shown as a multiple of your stake. At €0.20 per spin, a 100x feature buy costs €20, or 40% of a €50 budget. The payout from one purchase can be much lower or higher than that price. Check the published feature rules and RTP rather than treating the buy price as a payout estimate.
Check whether an active bonus permits feature buys before using bonus funds. For a preview of the bonus round, use demo mode rather than increasing your stake after losses.
New casino launches and recent slot releases
A casino that launches in 2026 signs its game contracts in 2026, so its lobby often carries recent releases on day 1. That is a real plus of a new casino like MythosWin: the newest studio drops can sit next to the classics from the first week.
It also means the "new" row is crowded. Use the 6-step test above on the 3 games you most want to play. If the casino shows the studio name, the RTP line and the release date, that tells you something good about how it runs its lobby. If it hides all 3, keep your first stakes smaller until you know more.
Welcome free spins and in-game bonus rounds
The 200 FS in the MythosWin welcome offer are promotional spins allocated by the casino to selected games. In-game free spins are a game feature triggered during play, such as 15 spins in Gates of Olympus or 10 in Sweet Bonanza. The two have different activation and payout rules.
Before using your 200 spins, review the active promotion details in your MythosWin cashier: the eligible feature slots, the spin valuation, and the transparent playthrough terms.

Slot terms explained
- Lobby labels
- Tags such as “new” or “hot” are added by the casino. They do not tell you when the game was released.
- Game rules
- Open the information or help menu inside a game to find its winning combinations, bonus features and RTP, when shown.
- Game provider
- The studio that makes the game, for example Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming or Nolimit City.
- How wins work
- The rule for matching symbols: along paylines, in groups, or anywhere on the reels.
- Re-skin
- An existing game with new pictures or a new theme. Its rules and underlying maths stay the same.
- Special edition
- A version of an existing game with an extra feature, such as Super Scatters.
- RTP version
- A game can have several return-to-player settings. The casino selects one, so check the percentage inside the game.
- Win frequency
- How often a spin pays anything. A rate of 22.18% means roughly 1 in 4.5 spins; a win can be smaller than your stake.
- Volatility
- How uneven the payouts can be. High volatility usually means longer stretches without a win and occasional larger payouts.
- Maximum win
- The largest possible payout, expressed as a multiple of your stake. At a €1 stake, a 12,500× maximum means €12,500.
Questions about new slots
How can I tell a new slot from a re-skin of an older game?
Compare the grid, the pay rule and the free spins rule with the game it resembles. If all 3 match and only the art changed, it is a re-skin. If a feature or prize ladder is added, it is a special edition. The studio's release date settles the rest.
Which mechanic should I read first in a new slot?
Read the pay rule first and the free spins trigger second: together they tell you how often the game pays and where its big wins live, which the theme and the poster never do.
What if the RTP is missing from the help file?
Ask live chat which RTP version the casino runs. If nobody can tell you, treat the maths as unknown, lower your stake and do not rely on a figure quoted elsewhere.
Do the 200 free spins from MythosWin work on any new slot?
Usually not, because welcome spins are credited on games the casino picks. Check the eligible game, the spin value and the wagering on winnings in the MythosWin terms before you deposit.
