Your first session: budget, stake and demo mode
Set your budget and session length before opening a game. These six steps take about five minutes and apply to every game in this guide.
A clear plan lets you focus on the game rather than deciding your limits mid-session.
- Pick a budget you can lose without it hurting: for example €50 for the week, not for the night.
- Write down a stop rule in numbers: stop when €30 of the €50 is gone, or when you are €50 up, or after 60 minutes.
- Choose one game and open it in demo mode. Play 50 rounds with play money and read the rules screen while you do.
- Set a stake so the budget covers at least 100 rounds on slots or 25 hands at the tables.
- Set a deposit limit in your casino account before your first payment, not after.
- Complete your age and ID check first. In Great Britain this happens before you gamble, and you must be 18 or over.
The Gambling Commission's own advice before you start is short: read the terms, read the deposit rules and check that the site holds a licence. Our guide to MythosWin's offer and first checks walks you through those for this casino.
Slots: paylines, symbols and free spins
A slot’s paytable explains symbol values, special symbols and bonus triggers. Open it using the “i” button or game menu before your first spin.
Check four details: how symbols form a win, how payouts relate to your stake, what the wild replaces, and how scatters trigger free spins. Common win formats include paylines, ways, clusters and matching symbols anywhere on the reels.
Big Bass Splash provides a useful example. Its studio page lists 10, 15 or 20 free spins for three, four or five scatters. During the feature, wilds collect money symbols worth up to 5,000x. Read those two rules together to understand how the bonus works.
Gates of Olympus works differently. It pays when 8 to 30 matching symbols land anywhere on its 6 reels, then tumbles new symbols in. Pragmatic Play lists its RTP at 96.50%. RTP is the share of all bets a game is built to return over a very long run, so it describes the game, not your evening.
Each spin is random and independent. A losing streak does not make a bonus more likely, and a near miss does not predict the next result. Choose your stake from your budget rather than a betting pattern.
| Stake per spin | Spins your €50 covers | Fits the 100-spin rule? |
|---|---|---|
| €0.10 | 500 | Yes |
| €0.20 | 250 | Yes |
| €0.50 | 100 | Just |
| €1.00 | 50 | No |
| €2.00 | 25 | No |
The table counts rounds before any wins are returned to the balance. At €2 per spin, 25 losing rounds use the full €50 budget. A high-volatility game can go through that many rounds without triggering a bonus.
RTP turns this into money. Say you play 100 rounds at €0.50 on Gates of Olympus, whose studio page lists an RTP of 96.50%: that is €50 of total bets, and over a very long run the game keeps about 3.5% of it, roughly €1.75. A single session can land far above or below that figure, which is exactly why the budget and the stop rule matter more than the RTP.
Volatility in plain words
Volatility describes how uneven a slot’s payouts can be. Low-volatility games tend to return smaller wins more frequently. High-volatility slots tend to produce longer gaps between wins, with more value concentrated in larger payouts.
Look for a studio volatility rating when choosing a game. Hacksaw Gaming rates Wanted Dead or a Wild at four out of five. A low- or medium-volatility slot can be easier to follow during a first session; higher-volatility titles suit players comfortable with larger balance swings.
Roulette: bets, payouts and the zero
Roulette starts with one choice: which number or group of numbers will the ball land on? The wheel type and your bet determine the odds.
You bet on where the ball lands: a European wheel has 37 pockets numbered 0 to 36, and an American wheel adds a double zero for 38, a pocket that matters more than any betting pattern.
Every payout on a standard table is set as if the zero did not exist. That gap is the house edge: 1 in 37, about 2.70%, on a single-zero wheel, and 2 in 38, about 5.26%, on a double-zero wheel. Pick single zero whenever you can.
| Bet | Numbers covered | Pays | Chance to win |
|---|---|---|---|
| Straight up | 1 | 35 to 1 | 2.70% |
| Split | 2 | 17 to 1 | 5.41% |
| Street | 3 | 11 to 1 | 8.11% |
| Corner | 4 | 8 to 1 | 10.81% |
| Six line | 6 | 5 to 1 | 16.22% |
| Dozen or column | 12 | 2 to 1 | 32.43% |
| Red or black, odd or even, 1 to 18 or 19 to 36 | 18 | 1 to 1 | 48.65% |
A €1 straight-up bet pays €35 plus the returned stake, with a chance of one in 37. A €1 bet on red pays €1 plus the stake, with a chance of 18 in 37. Both have the same 2.70% house edge on a standard European wheel, but their payout patterns are different.
Doubling after a loss leaves the odds unchanged and increases the amount at risk: €1, €2, €4, €8, €16, €32, €64. The seventh bet is €64, following €63 in previous losses, to seek a €1 net gain. Table limits or your budget can stop the sequence before a winning round.
You will see 3 names in a lobby. European roulette uses the single-zero wheel. French roulette also uses a single zero and sometimes adds a rule that returns part of an even-money bet when zero lands; read the table rules to see if it applies. American roulette uses the double-zero wheel, so it is the one to skip when another table is open.
Blackjack: card values, payouts and basic moves
In blackjack, your decisions affect the long-run return. Learn the basic moves alongside the table’s payout and dealer rules.
The aim is to finish closer to 21 than the dealer without exceeding 21. Number cards count at face value, picture cards count as 10, and an ace counts as one or 11.
Read 2 rules on the table before you sit down. First, what a blackjack pays. At 3 to 2, a €10 blackjack pays €15. At 6 to 5, the same hand pays €12. That €3 difference on every blackjack you are dealt adds up, so prefer 3 to 2 tables. Second, whether the dealer stands or hits on a soft 17. The table felt or the rules screen tells you.
| Your hand | Dealer shows | Usual move |
|---|---|---|
| Pair of aces | Any card | Split |
| Pair of 8s | Any card | Split |
| Pair of 10s | Any card | Stand, never split |
| Hard 11 | 2 to 10 | Double |
| Hard 17 or more | Any card | Stand |
| Hard 12 to 16 | 7 to ace | Hit |
Skip insurance. It pays 2 to 1 when the dealer has blackjack, but it is a side bet on the next card being worth 10, and over time it costs you more than it saves. Many live tables also sell side bets with big payouts; treat them like a slot spin, not like part of your blackjack strategy.
Decide your move before turning to the live chat or watching other players. Live blackjack has a fixed decision window. A strategy hint, where available, can help you practise the basic moves without rushing.
Slots, roulette and blackjack compared
A suitable stake depends on the game’s pace and rules. Use this comparison to adjust a €50 budget for slots, roulette or blackjack.
| Question | Slots | Roulette | Blackjack |
|---|---|---|---|
| What decides the result | The random spin | Where the ball lands | The cards plus your decisions |
| What you choose | Stake and game | Stake and bet type | Stake plus hit, stand, double, split |
| What to read first | Paytable and RTP line | Single or double zero | Blackjack payout and dealer rule |
| Stake for a €50 budget | €0.20 to €0.50 a spin | €1 on even-money bets | €2 a hand |
| Rounds that stake covers | 100 to 250 rounds | About 50 bets | About 25 hands |
A €1 roulette bet and a €1 slot spin use the same money but create different session lengths. Choose your stake for the game you are playing, then check how many rounds your budget covers.
Live dealer or digital table: what changes for you
Roulette and blackjack come in 2 forms. A digital table runs on a random number generator and moves as fast as you click. A live table streams a real dealer from a studio, with real cards or a real wheel, and deals at a fixed pace for everyone. Rules, payouts and the house edge stay the same.
What changes is speed. A digital roulette table can let you place 200 or more bets an hour if you rush; a live table might deal 30 to 60 rounds in the same time. Fewer rounds per hour means your budget lasts longer at the same stake, which makes live tables a calmer place to learn.
Live tables also have higher minimum bets. Check the minimum before you sit down. If a blackjack table starts at €5 a hand and your budget is €50, you have 10 hands, which is too few to learn anything. Pick a table whose minimum lets your budget cover at least 25 hands.
Five beginner mistakes and how to avoid them
- Playing without reading the rules. Fix: open the paytable or the table rules first and find the 1 rule that decides most of your result.
- Using the same stake everywhere. Fix: size the stake to the game with the table above, so a €50 budget covers 100 spins or 25 hands.
- Chasing the first loss. Fix: write your loss stop before you start and keep it on paper next to you.
- Accepting a bonus without reading the playthrough. Fix: find the multiple, the maximum bet and the excluded games before you deposit.
- Leaving the ID check for later. Fix: upload your documents on day 1, so a win is not held up.
Allow ten minutes for these steps before your first round. They are practical habits you can use from the start.
Session calculator: budget, rounds and loss limit
Enter your budget, your stake per round and the loss you are willing to accept tonight. The calculator shows how many rounds the stake buys and the balance at which you stop. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
With a €50 budget, a €0.20 stake and a €30 loss limit, the calculator shows 250 rounds before wins and a stopping balance of €20. Keep the remaining €20 when you reach that limit.
Set a loss limit and session time
Choose a stopping point before the session and write it down. Use a specific amount or time rather than deciding later whether the session still feels enjoyable.
- A loss stop: the amount of your budget you accept losing tonight, such as €30 of €50.
- A time stop: a fixed end, such as 60 minutes, with a phone alarm.
- A win stop: when you are up by your full budget, bank half and play on with the rest or leave.
The hardest moment is the first loss streak. Chasing it with bigger stakes is the most common way a €50 night becomes a €200 night. If you notice you are raising stakes to win back losses, stop and use the tools in your account: deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. Using bonus funds on slots and table games
A welcome match adds funds to explore the lobby. To make the most of it, check which games count towards wagering and how much each qualifying bet contributes.
Bonus funds come with clear playthrough terms, where video slots contribute 100% towards wagering requirements. Table games like roulette or blackjack often count at a lower percentage, such as 10% or 20%, reflecting their higher inherent return to player. If roulette counts at 10%, every €10 wagered clears €1 of bonus playthrough.
Use bonus funds on video slots such as Big Bass Splash or Gates of Olympus when they qualify for full contribution. Keep a separate cash budget for table games if their bonus contribution is lower. The MythosWin cashier shows the game-contribution breakdown before you claim.
Keep an eye on the standard maximum bet per spin during active bonus play. Operators typically set this comfortably around €5 per round, allowing plenty of tactical flexibility while keeping volatility balanced throughout your session.

Casino games: beginner questions
How do I read a slot paytable before the first spin?
Open the "i" or menu screen and find 4 things: the pay rule, the symbol values as multiples of your bet, the wild and the scatter that starts free spins. Then find the RTP line.
Which roulette and blackjack rules change the stake I should use?
In roulette, the number of zeros changes the house edge, so prefer single zero. In blackjack, a 3 to 2 payout beats 6 to 5. At both tables, size your stake so a €50 budget covers 25 to 50 rounds.
What stop rule should I set before I play for real money?
Set a loss stop and a time stop in numbers before you start, for example €30 of a €50 budget and 60 minutes. Add a deposit limit in your account so the rule holds on a bad night.
How much should I bet per spin as a beginner?
Divide your session budget by 100 for slots and by 25 for blackjack hands. With €50 that means €0.50 a spin or €2 a hand, and less if you want the night to last longer.
Can a betting system beat roulette or slots?
No. Each spin is independent and the house edge stays the same whatever pattern you follow. Systems only change how fast your stake grows and how quickly a budget runs out.
